As President of the GenSpring Washington, DC Family Office, John successfully transitioned his former practice at Deutsch Bank Alex Brown in Baltimore, MD to GenSpring Family Offices in 2002. John has years of experience providing comprehensive wealth management services to high-net worth families, particularly in the areas of investment planning, estate planning, income tax planning, and succession planning.
Prior to joining GenSpring, John was a Director at Deutsche Bank Alex Brown in Baltimore, Maryland. John co-developed the Personal CFO group, which served families of significant wealth, offering investment, tax and estate planning services. John and his partner were managing in excess of $650 million for client families.
John is responsible for supervising all family relationships of the firm for the Mid-Atlantic, and is responsible for maintaining the high-quality service and support to which our families have become accustomed.
Prior to Deutsche Bank Alex Brown, John was a senior manager in Arthur Andersen's Family Wealth Planning Practice. As part of this practice John was involved in the Family Business Forum at American University.
John is a certified public accountant, a personal financial specialist, and a member of the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants. John graduated with high honors from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Master of Accounting degree with a specialization in Tax. John is former Treasurer and is the current Chairman-Elect of The National Kidney Foundation of the Capital Area.
