Paul D. Blatz, CFA
Paul Blatz is a managing director and senior family investment Officer for GenSpring. In this role, Paul is responsible for the introduction, implementation, and management of GenSpring’s investment process. Paul’s responsibilities include investment policy formation, client asset allocation and portfolio management, investment manager selection, and client portfolio performance reviews.
Paul is chairman of both the Portfolio Construction Group and the Family Investment Officer (FIO) Council. The Portfolio Construction Group is an internal committee which provides Investment Officers with recommended, optimal manager combinations in coordination with the firm’s tactical and strategic asset allocation guidance to help them in constructing portfolios to meet their client’s goals and objectives. The FIO Council is a leadership group formed to serve as a central voice for FIOs within GenSpring, as well as develop best practices and provide strategic direction for the greater FIO community.
Paul joined GenSpring in May 2006 as a member of the Investment Group, serving as the portfolio strategist for Wealth Select, a high-net-worth service offered through SunTrust. In this role, Paul was responsible for the manager selection, asset allocation, and overall management of the investment process and execution for this platform. Additionally, he conducted manager due diligence and other ad hoc research projects as part of the Investment Group.
Prior to joining GenSpring, Paul was senior associate at Bernstein Global Wealth Management, a high-net-worth money manager, helping clients with asset allocation, wealth planning, and understanding the financial markets.
Paul graduated magna cum laude from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree with a concentration in Finance. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a member of the CFA Institute.
