Mike King, JD
Mike King is a managing director and senior family wealth advisor responsible for advising clients on a wide range of issues related to integrated family wealth planning. In this role, Mike also leads a team of experienced and talented family wealth advisors in the comprehensive delivery of GenSpring’s services throughout its east region, which includes offices located in Atlanta, Charlotte, Nashville and Chevy Chase, Maryland.
Mike rejoined GenSpring in 2015 and has extensive experience working with ultra-high-net-worth families and family offices. As a former estate planning and corporate attorney with Smith, Gambrell & Russell, Mike has worked closely with entrepreneurs and closely-held business owners on a variety of corporate and tax matters, including pre-liquidity or pre-transaction estate and gift tax planning. Mike has also worked as a director and wealth strategist with Merrill Lynch and as a vice president and senior wealth strategist with Goldman Sachs and The Ayco Company, where he provided objective and sophisticated advice to ultra-high net worth clients and family offices on a variety of matters, including estate and gift tax planning, income tax planning, philanthropic endeavors, risk management and family dynamics and governance. Mike originally joined GenSpring in 2005 as a family wealth advisor.
Mike graduated Cum Laude from the University of Georgia School of Law (J.D.) in 1996 and from Wake Forest University (B.A., Politics) in 1991. Although he no longer practices law, Mike is a member of the Georgia State Bar. He also holds FINRA Series 63 and 65 licenses.
